Wheel-thrown in speckled stoneware clay, this plate is hand-painted using porcelain slip with pigmented slip detailing, then glaze-fired to 1250 °C. It is subsequently overpainted with 24-carat gold lustre and refired at a lower temperature to permanently fuse the metallic accents to the surface.

Designed to be displayed on the wall or used day to day in the kitchen, the piece draws inspiration from 17th-century Ottoman ceramics. Every element of the design has been painted freehand, with fine sgraffito details carefully etched into the surface using a pin blade.
